On Wednesday, December 30, 2009, we will present a full day seminar entitled Digital Workflow for Lawyers, which will provide 6 hours of CLE credit (in Louisiana only), including 1 hour of Ethics and 1 hour of Professionalism. The seminar will focus on all aspects of digital lawyering, from how to become paperless to how to effectively conduct E-discovery.
Both Dane and Ernie have made the transition to completely paperless law practices, and will explain how they got there. The course will cover everything from capturing digital information by scanning, to organizing client files and case documents using effective, low cost tools. We’ll cover the use of both PCs and Mac computers, and will emphasize the use of PDFs as a form of ‘digital paper.’
Topics covered during the seminar will include:
- Scanning
- Digital File Organization
- Digital workflow
- Digital signatures
- Electronic bates-stamping
- Redaction & metadata
- E-discovery tips & problems
- Backup & file-retention obligations
- Smartphone tips for lawyers (Presented by Jeff Richardson of iPhoneJD.com)
- Effective web marketing (free lunch presentation, not available for CLE credit)
The seminar will take place in New Orleans on December 30th, from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The location of the seminar will be in the IP Building, located at 643 Magazine St. (behind the U.S. Fifth Circuit).
